L&W Compressive Strength Tester STFI

L&W Compressive Strength Tester STFI is a new instrument that measures compressive strength of liner and fluting. Compression strength determines the stackability of corrugated boxes. The aim is to produce strong boxes, and at the same time use a minimum of raw material.

The instrument has several new features, such as the automatic strip feeder that moves the test strip forward after each measurement. This makes measurement easy and quick as test strips can be measured without requiring any action from the operator. The test cycle is rapid; it takes only one-and-a-half minutes to measure a series of 20 measurements. This makes the instrument the fastest and most accurate compressive strength tester on the market.

Compressive strength value compensated for moisture content
The ability to make quick and ongoing checks of the compressive strength is decisive in determining product quality. Usually, the test piece needs to be conditioned before measurement to give correct measurement values. L&W Compressive Strength Tester STFI comes with an integrated moisture sensor which corrects the compressive strength. This means that the instrument with integrated moisture sensor can be used directly at the paper machine.

Increased measurement range
L&W Compressive Strength Tester STFI also measure compressive strength of liner and fluting with low grammages as it is a simple task to set the instrument to free spans shorter than 0.7 mm.

Proven measurement technology
The short-span compressive test (SCT) method employed by the instrument, has been well-established for 30 years. It is the best method for estimating and optimizing the compressive strength of liner and fluting. The method was developed by Lorentzen & Wettre in cooperation with the research institute STFI.
