Check the felt condition and take action in time

L&W Felt Permeability Meter is a new instrument, which provides you with the best possible knowledge about the condition of the press felts. This enables you to optimize dewatering and reduce costs significantly.

L&W Felt Permeability Meter quickly and accurately measures the water permeability of press felts during operation. By measuring the water permeability of the felts, clogging and wear are easily discovered and the potential to optimize the pressing with regards to paper quality and dewatering is made possible.

L&W Permeability Meter can be used to optimize the conditioning system as well as for quick troubleshooting

L&W Permeability Meter can be used to optimize the conditioning system as well as for quick troubleshooting. The instrument is both smaller and lighter than its predecessor and includes position detection of both MD and CD. A new software, L&W Multiview 3D, can display 2 & 3-dimensional images of water permeability variations in felts also includes frequency analysis of machine directional data and report of the felt length.

Correct maintenance of press felts results in higher performance, longer life and lower expenses. To achieve this it's important to do regular measurements to find weak points in the press section. The measurement results help paper producers to be proactive and take the right action at the right time.

"A paper machine standing idle is expensive; a large paper machine not producing can cost in the order of Euro 20,000 per hour. To reduce unplanned stops is thus very important" says Lars Kånge, Product Manager of L&W Felt Permeability Meter.

"Using L&W Felt Permeability Meter on a regular basis makes it easy to find weak points in the press section, thus enabling you to take the right action at the right time. A two hour per year reduction in unplanned machine downtime could mean that the investment in an L&W Felt Moisture Meter has paid for itself. Control of the process delivers a return on investment", continues Lars Kånge.
